In the current scenario, merely engaging with something might not be adequate for approval into an airdrop. Some investment like staking and then further staking your ETH is essential.
So I borrowed some ETH from my friend, which I told him I'll use it to farm some airdrop projects, and I'll repay him in ETH as well. At that moment 1 ETH was $3500.
I set up several wallets with a starting balance of about half an ETH each. I then utilized ETHFI and other decentralized applications to restake these ETHs over a period of roughly three months.
Positive update: I've met the airdrop criteria and now have ETHFI tokens valued at more than $100.
Each of those address should receive 15 ETHFI, or $25. Which may or may not be enough to cover all those Ethereum gas cost.
And, plus some staking interest, 3%-4% per year, or 1% per 3 month. At the current price of $2500/ETH, it would be $12.5. Although unstaking and unwrap those things also takes some times due to some security measures.
Negative update: My friend experienced a substantial loss because I had to lock in and maintain those ETH stakes for approximately three months, during which ETH did not perform well on the market.
This scenario essentially compelled him to keep the ETH staked for a quarter of a year, with only a 1% gain in interest.
The background to receiving around $37.5 per wallet in airdrop and staking interest figures in comparison to a substantial $500 loss per wallet owing to the drop in ETH prices.(Although even if my friend didn't lend me those ETH, he probably would hold onto it anyways). Even if ETH price remains the same, getting only $25 worth of airdrop per almost $2000 locked for 3 months is disappointing. While farming airdrop is no longer as profitable as before, I think if someone invests $2000 for 3 months they still deserve an airdrop worth $50$100 or higher.
The realm of Web3 and cryptocurrency provides potential risks. It's crucial to proceed with caution.
Indeed, with situations like Hamster Combat tappers, the challenges have grown worse.
Take every experience as an opportunity to learn for the future, my friend.
